The First Filipino Video Game on Facebook Requests President Aquino for Adoption

Friday, April 27th, 2012

His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III
President of the Republic of the Philippines
Malacanang Palace
JP Laurel Street, San Miguel, Manila

Dear President Aquino:

Wouldn’t it be great if you could enhance your K to 12 Basic Education Program with an English vocabulary-building project to help young people compete and succeed in the international stage?

Wouldn’t it be even greater if you could achieve that by simply giving them a Filipino-created, Filipino-developed and Filipino-owned online word game for FREE?

My name is WordTrotter, dubbed “World’s Coolest Word Game” by users online and I’ve been featured on primetime news, talk shows, websites and online publications as the First Filipino Video Game on Facebook.

I apologize for my lack of modesty, but, Your Excellency, I am currently unparalleled in the world of word gaming in that I am action packed, multi leveled and effortlessly educational because my players actively interact with forming words, given both clues to help and adversaries to overcome in a unique gaming world where words come alive.  The player guides one of the three surviving word bugs of the Wordtrotter Race in a quest to catch mystical alphabet bugs and form the Anti-Spell, a secret magical word that will save the world from being destroyed by the curse of the evil word witch Grimmar.  And as they do so, word after word is memorized and understood.

You may see how effectively I work to increase vocabulary here: www.wordtrotter.com

I am not simply an entertainment device.

I am an interactive, extremely effective, educational tool.

I am born and created solely in the Philippines.

Yes, I am a proud Pinoy.

And I dream to find a home in the computer of every Filipino student.

Just like you, as shown by your recent launch of the K to 12 Basic Education Program on April 24, 2012, and just like my creator, Gil De Palma, I want to see this country of ours thrive and grow into a just and economically developed society and, like you and Gil, I also believe that one of the main catalysts to a surge in our country’s fortune and well being is the creation and support of literate, highly educated young people who will enter the work force, here and abroad, well able to compete and succeed on the international stage.

So I want to share my word tutoring capacities with children and adolescents in schools all over the Philippines.

Mr. President, with this in mind, may I request you to adopt me and share copies of me to every student in the country?

They’ll get me for FREE.

Lately my creator introduced the “Adopt WordTrotter” project on the Internet. It may be a bit eccentric, but yes, people all over the world can now be my foster parents with a gift of seven dollars ($7) at this crowdfunding site:

GoFundMe http://www.gofundme.com/adoptwordtrotter appealing to folks to be my Foster Parents to support my continuous existence as a Facebook game

For their kindness, foster parents get seven fully functioning duplicates or game clones worth seven dollars each. They can keep them, share them with their friends or even sell them.

The money to be raised will also help send over 8,000 poor children in Metro Manila to school and make better lives for themselves through my creator’s Play 4 Scholars Project with Caritas Manila.  You or members of your staff can see our efforts to help here: http://www.play4scholars.com/

What I ardently wish is for your Presidential Office to adopt me by proclaiming to every school in the country that, for a gift of only seven dollars (PHP 294), my creator will provide each donor school with a password and link to an Internet site where they can download as many copies of me, the WordTrotter Game, as the number of students attending that school who want to play me.

Your Excellency, I hope you agree with me and with Gil De Palma and his team that this one of a kind project can be of immense benefit for millions of Filipino school children from K to 12 and that the seven dollar donation per school will be one of the most cost effective training programs the world has ever seen and can make the Philippine school system a progressive luminary in the field of English education and the envy of other nations.

No one has ever done this before, but then again, we Filipinos thrive on uniqueness, don’t we?

If you or any member of your staff wish to receive more information or discuss the school ‘adoption program’ further, feel free to phone Gil De Palma at   +63 9278755428  or email him at either:   gildepalma@wordtrotter.com or wordtrotter@gmail.com

Thanking you in advance for your consideration, President Aquino, Yours Truly,

Adopt WordTrotter, Send Poor Kids to School

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Adopt the World's Coolest Word Game

When I’m asked if playing a video game can make a difference, I think about 12-year old Rosa Formanes.

Rosa’s family can’t afford tap water so she gathers water in a pail every time it rains. She seldom gets a square meal a day. Still, Rosa is a consistent honor student and a talented artist.

“I want to be a teacher,” she said. Her goal? To help her family and other poor children rise from poverty.

With a little help from WordTrotter

My name is Gil De Palma, writer/artist/filmmaker and creator of WordTrotter, dubbed “World’s Coolest Word Game.”

I granted Caritas Manila, the lead Catholic agency for social services and development, Rosa’s scholarship sponsor, free use of my video game to help send her and 8,000 poor brilliant kids in the Philippines to school.

I created The Play 4 Scholars Project, a play-to-give project that offers an enjoyable and educational way of raising money for the scholars of Caritas Manila by simply playing WordTrotter. You may check it out here: www.play4scholars.com

To help more, I will put WordTrotter back as a social game on Facebook. But I need your help to achieve that.

So, I’m placing my video game for adoption here…

http://www.gofundme.com/adoptwordtrotter

Adopt the World’s Coolest Word Game

Now people all over the world can become an online foster parent of the World’s Coolest Word Game with a gift of $7.

It’s not about giving up ownership of WordTrotter; it’s about sharing with you the dream, the challenges and the excitement of sending a video game out into the world of social gaming—and the rewards that come with it…

As you help send poor kids to school.

The unique thing about WordTrotter adoption is that foster parents get to own one duplicate or clone of the game for every dollar given.

Priced at $7 each, foster parents can keep them forever, sell them or share them with their friends.

Will you be WordTrotter’s Foster Parent?

Be a WordTrotter Foster Parent!

I created WordTrotter like the classic video game Pacman, mobile game Snake and word game Text Twist rolled into one, yet it is its own game.

If you can guide the uncanny word bug Wordtrotter in a quest to catch mystical alphabet bugs and form the Anti-Spell, a secret magical word that will save the world from being destroyed by the curse of the evil word witch Grimmar, you can play the game.

Heads up! If you fail to catch the right word, a monster will eat you alive.

My team worked for two years to develop WordTrotter’s three game versions—Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Now you can have WordTrotter clones to call your own.

Simply support the game with a gift of seven dollars ($7), although you can contribute as much as you wish.

You get the following REWARDS:

Play WordTrotter and Help Send Poor Kids to School

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Please take a break from your busy schedule and play WordTrotter…it will be one of the best things you’ll ever do in your lifetime.

You’ll have so much fun, you’ll build your vocabulary, and you’ll send poor talented kids to school—at no cost to you.

All you have to do is play for scholars…

Play WordTrotter and Help Send Poor Kids to School

Play WordTrotter and Help Send Poor Kids to School

WordTrotter is a word game, a puzzle game, and a casual-action game rolled into one with a very simple gameplay: you only have to catch letters to form a word.

The amazing thing about this game is you get to build your English vocabulary—whether you like it or not.

And through the WordTrotter Play 4 Scholars Project, you get to help raise funds for more than 8,000 underprivileged scholars of Caritas Manila, the lead Catholic agency for social services and development.

The Play 4 Scholars Project is a play-to-give drive that encourages people to raise funds for the benefit of Caritas Manila’s scholars by simply playing WordTrotter.

It provides a fun and educational way of helping poor kids – at no cost to you.

All you have to do is click on the Play Now button and you’re on your way to changing their lives.

The project’s web site (http://www.play4scholars.com) allows you to play Wordtrotter, boost your vocabulary, have fun, and earn one centavo at a time to help send poor kids to school.

For each word that you get right, a sponsor donates one centavo to Caritas Manila’s scholarship fund in your name. It is pooled with other donations to provide the scholars and their families with the following benefits:

• formal and non-formal education–elementary, high school, college, and vocational levels
• values formation for leadership, family life, and environment protection
• sacramental appreciation
• primary health care, nutrition, and crisis intervention
• child rights protection
• livelihood and skills training
• opportunities for self/wage employment
• other socio-economic development programs

Wait! Watch your words.

You can enjoy Wordtrotter as a word game, a puzzle game, or a casual-action game, but you’ll have to watch your words (literally) because it is addicting and so much fun you’ll hardly notice that you’re actually building your vocabulary as you play.

But you’ll see that you’re raising funds for Caritas Manila’s scholars.

You will receive an email regarding the details of your donations. Your Play 4 Scholars site profile will also display the total amount you have donated to help you keep track of the money you have helped raise.

Play 4 scholars now!

Can you Find the Word that will Save the World?

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

WordTrotter is a word game, puzzle game, and casual action game rolled into one with a very simple gameplay: catch runaway alphabet characters to form a word.

But in this game, you just don’t guess the correct word; you also solve a magical mystery and fight villains and monsters.

The game is about the uncanny word bugs known as Wordtrotters that must risk their lives in a perilous quest to find the Anti-Spell, a secret magical word that will save the world from being destroyed by the curse of an evil witch.

The First Filipino Video Game on Facebook

The First Filipino Video Game on Facebook

Find the word. Save the world.

The game takes you to a unique bug world called Wordth plunged into darkness by the curse of the word witch Grimmar. The world is dying; Grimmar and her monsters are devouring and destroying it.

To save the world, you must play the role of a word bug, the Wordtrotter, on a quest to catch mystical alphabet bugs that form a secret magical word called the Anti-Spell.

It is the only thing that can reverse the curse.

Point and click with your mouse to guide the Wordtrotters, Woogly, Weegly, and Whaagly, to catch mystical alphabet bugs to form the Anti-Spell.

Watch out! Grimmar has discovered your mission, dispatching her bug-eating monsters, the Buggers, to smother you. If you fail, they will devour your Wordtrotters—alive.

You must beat the clock to catch other game words to move on to the next stage and continue playing until you find the Anti-Spell.

Hot tip: Try not to be a Bugger’s lunch!

And yes, it’s a vocabulary builder!

Interacting with other game characters will yield word clues like synonyms, antonyms, or definitions, enhancing and upgrading your word arsenal in the process.

WordTrotter will methodically boost your vocabulary by familiarizing you with the words. Once you “meet” a game word, it will stick with you for a lifetime.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

It is sticky, addictive, and so much fun you will hardly notice that you’re actually enriching your vocabulary as you play!
